DISCOVERY | SHARK WEEK 2024 | ON-AIR GFX

Summer is here! It’s the time for sunny days at the beach and fireworks in the sky. But this year there’s even more to celebrate with The New Summer Holiday - Shark Week!

We were thrilled to be called on by our friends at Discovery to create the on-air, promo, and branded entertainment graphics for their long-standing summer event. This year, the project came with an added challenge: rather than focusing on one specific “theme” for one time use, we wanted to create a robust brand look that could be used for years to come and expanded in the future to meet ever-changing creative needs. To meet this challenge, we created a “mix-and-match” system built on 6 unique, fully CG environments:

The environments were then customized with dynamic type setups that allow Discovery’s in-house team and other vendors to create any and all graphic elements using our After Effects toolkits, including:

Shark Week End Pages
Show-Specific End Pages
Discovery Word Mark Openers
Title Cards
Tune In Pages

In addition to the expansive promo elements we created, we also delivered a new look for the on-air graphic system including the Shark Week bug, menu, and on screen text & countdowns which can be seen in the montage below:
