A&E | CUSTOM BRAND FONT (A&E Script)

A common component across A&E’s brand are the qualities of handmade and tactile. Last year we were fortunate to collaborate with A&E on many of their top properties: Live PD, Live Rescue, 60 Days In, and America’s Top Dog. While every show has its own unique look, one way we brought a handmade quality to each was by incorporating hand-drawn fonts.

After exploring readymade options, we suggested creating a completely custom font for the network. This would allow A&E to consolidate the numerous hand-drawn fonts that were in use and establish a consistent brand font that could be used on & off air. 

And so we created A&E Script: a hand illustrated set of over 200 characters. Each character was hand painted, then scanned and vectorized to build the type set. In addition to all upper and lower case letters, A&E Script includes numbers, punctuation, symbols, and multiple alternate glyphs for commonly used characters.
